"After the Storm was based on a photo I took of fallen aspen leaves in our front yard. I enhanced the leaf colors somewhat and researched how sunlight casts shadows inside and outside of water droplets.
After painting each of the raindrops, I held my breath while starting to pick out small chips of the watercolor paper to mimic the sunlight glint in each drop. I think that is the touch that makes the painting come to life."
